Surgical Instructions

Before Surgery:

  • Please complete the Preadmission Form, and provide this information to the Admissions Department. Please bring the complete case record on the day of surgery.
  • Any required lab work must be performed within 1 week prior to the surgery; unless otherwise requested by your physician.
  • Our preadmissions nurse will contact you one to three days prior to surgery to review specific instructions and answer any questions. If a nurse has not contacted you 24 hours prior to surgery, please call the preadmissions nurse for instructions.
  • Please arrange in advance for a responsible adult to drive you home and remain with you the first 24 hours after surgery.
  • Notify your surgeon before coming to the Hospital if there has been a change in your physical condition, such as cold or fever.
  • Bring all your regular medications.

Day of Surgery:

  • Please bath or shower prior to surgery. Remove all makeup. Do not use lotions or oils after bathing. You may brush your teeth, remembering not to eat anything before 12 hrs of Surgery.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing such as sweat suits and easy-to-button shirts or blouses. Wear comfortable shoes, no high heels, please.
  • Leave all valuables, including jewelry and cash, at home. We cannot be responsible for damaged or lost property.
  • If you wear contact lenses or glasses, bring a case for their safekeeping. We provide containers for removable dentures and bridgework.
  • Be prepared to sign a form giving your consent for the operation. If the patient is under 18, a parent or legal guardian must accompany the patient and sign all consent forms. Legal guardians should bring proof of guardianship.
  • Remember to bring a picture ID/driver’s license and all insurance cards.
  • Please arrive one hour before your scheduled procedure, unless instructed otherwise.
  • A nurse will provide you with a patient gown, slippers and a bag to store your clothing. We will check your temperature, blood pressure and pulse and ask you to empty your bladder prior to surgery.
  • During surgery, your family will be asked to wait in the lobby. The surgeon will speak with your family immediately following surgery.

After Surgery:

  • Before you leave the hospital, you will be given discharge instructions for your care at home, in addition to the verbal instructions from your surgeon.
  • After you have returned home, be sure to follow your doctor’s orders regarding diet, rest, medication and activities.
  • Do not sign any important papers or make any significant decisions for at least 24 hours.
  • Do not drive a car, smoke, drink alcoholic beverages, operate machinery, or cook for 24 hours after surgery.
  • If you have any questions or problems after surgery, please contact your surgeon immediately.

Admission Procedures

On admission to Bristlecone Hospital, you are required to do the following:

Step 1:  Confirm the staying room

Please confirm the type of room you will be staying on admission. Please note that all quotations are based on a standard room and your total bill may vary in accordance with this.

Step 2:  Fill up the Admission Form

Please complete the ‘Admission Form ‘and verify the details of the person responsible for your medical expenses.

Step 3:  Submit a copy of your Identity Proof

Please submit a copy of your identity proof for registration and insurance purposes.

Step 4:  Deposit the treatment costs

All patients are required to deposit the required amount of the treatment cost. The payment can be made by any methods mentioned overleaf. Incase you are claiming your insurance please click on the link.

Step 5:  Proceed to your room

You will now be escorted to your room by one of our Hospital porters, who will also transport your luggage for you.

Step 6: Learn about the Hospital

A clear explanation about the room facilities is provided by the concerned nurse. Please, ensure to make a preference for your meals. Contact our customer care in the absence of concerned nurse.

Step 7:  Blood pressure and temperature check up

Please, coordinate with the concerned nurse for blood pressure and temperature check ups.

Step 8: Medical Treatment form

Additionally, if you need to undergo any – minor or major – surgery, please, sign another ‘Acceptance of Surgical Treatment’ form in order to give permission to Hospital to proceed.

Step 9: Your Savior, your Hospital

Step 10: Document Check List which you are required to sign

  • Copy of your Identity Card
    (White card, Aarogya Sri Card, driving license or any other card with your image on it)
  • Copy of your insurance documents (For insurance claim only)
  • Admission Form.

  • Acceptance of Medical Treatment.

In case of a Cashless hospitalization, claim can be of two types:

Planned:

Where the member of the covered family is aware of the hospitalisation 2-3 days in advance.

In case of planned hospitalization:-

  • Please contact your Service provider or TPA help-line mentioned in the Health Identity Card
  • Fax / submit the required documents. E.g. Doctor’s certificate, medical bills etc.
  • Obtain approval from the Service Provider or TPA

Emergency:

Where the insured meets with sudden accident or suffers from bout of illness that requires immediate admission to the hospital

In case of emergency hospitalization

  • The patient is to be rushed to the hospital
  • Patient avails treatment
  • Family to contact Service Provider or TPA help-line as mentioned in the Health Identity Card

Standard list of documents required:

  1. Claim form duly filled & signed by the insured & doctor.
  2. Original discharge card/ summary & final bill.
  3. All investigation reports in originals.
  4. All medicines /lab/ hospital bill in original.
  5. All payments receipts in original and should be stamped.
  6. Any other required documents depending upon the case.

A Safe and Clean Environment

The Bristlecone staff works hard to keep you safe. We use special policies and procedures to avoid mistakes in your care and keep you free from abuse or neglect. The housekeeping staff works to ensure your environment is safe and practices to maintain our infection control policies.

Involvement in Your Case

You and your family always will have the freedom to ask questions about your medical condition. Your medical records and information on your medical condition are confidential. We will only share this information with you and your next-of-kin. If your immediate family members wish to know more about your condition, they can approach the Nurse Case Coordinator to arrange for a convenient time to meet the doctor. However, as it is not possible for our doctor to update all your family members who may visit you at different times, we request that you appoint one member to be the liaison to discuss any issue with the doctor.

Visiting Hours

Your family and friends are welcome to visit you during your stay at our Hospital. For your well being and that of other patients, we would appreciate the co-operation of your visitors in adhering to the visiting hours.

Passes

A visitor, outside visiting hours is expected to have a 24-hour pass or a 30-minute reliever’s pass on his person when he is in the patient’s room. For patients scheduled for operations, yellow passes will be provided by the Main Reception on the day of the surgery. These passes will be valid for the duration of the Surgery.

In-house entertainment

To make your stay more comfortable, the Hospital has provided in-house facilities like televisions, DVD players, Refrigerators and telephones in the wards. Please make a proper use of the facilities as per your need.

Food Service

Healthy food is available in the Hospital premises for patients and their visitors. Please make use of the dustbins provided, do not litter the premises.

A Gentle Reminder

To ensure that you and your neighbor’s stay are pleasant and comfortable, we would appreciate your assistance in the following.

  • Please do not smoke/chew tobacco/pan in the Hospital premises
  • Keep children supervised & noise to a minimum
  • Please adhere to the visiting hours to see your patient.
  • Do not leave your valuables unattended

Leaving the Ward

Please inform the ward staff before leaving the ward at any time. For your safety, we request that you do not leave the Hospital premises without the permission of your doctor-in-charge.

Nurse Call Bell  

A call bell is attached to your bed panel. Please use it to call for assistance from the ward staff.

Patients’ Lockers
